Product Description

The outer cladding of double-clad fiber allows more pump light to enter the fiber, thereby increasing the coupling efficiency of the pump light. The core usually has a small mode field, but the outer cladding can increase the mode field area of the pump light, effectively increasing the laser output power. Double-clad fiber is usually used in high-power applications and can effectively support the generation of high-power lasers. The inner cladding and the outer cladding form a multi-mode optical waveguide to propagate the pump light, while the doped core and the inner cladding form a single-mode optical waveguide. When the signal light passes through the entire gain fiber, it will be pumped and amplified throughout the entire process. This helps to further improve the output power and beam quality of the laser. Double-clad fiber has higher mechanical strength and durability, and is suitable for more stringent use environments.
